To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position using the Career worklet, please review this .The Cancer Support Services Department at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Acupuncturist. **SUMMARY**The Acupuncturist provides a holistic approach to the maintenance of health and the management of disease with a focus on improving patients’ and clients’ overall well-being. Th Acupuncturist practices the accurate application of acupuncture to treat and manage a variety of emotional, mental, and physical disorders to maintain patients’ general good health.**CORE FUNCTIONS*** Conducts a detailed diagnosis and collects data on a patient’s lifestyle, diet, health history, and symptoms before developing a tailored treatment plan.* Focuses on manipulating and maintaining the balance of ‘life energy’ or ‘life spirit’ in the body with the insertion of needles into various acupuncture points.* Administers treatment over varied periods of time, ranging from one month to a year or more, depending on the severity of the condition and the patient’s reaction to the treatment.* Ensures all safety, infection, quality, and environmental procedures and rules are in place and used. Reviews and discusses treatment options and preventative measures with patients.* Assesses and monitors patients’ progress, maintaining detailed and complete records of health care plans and prognoses.* Dispenses herbal formulas and informs patients of dosages and frequencies, treatment duration, possible side effects, and drug interactions.* Adheres to local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and statutes.* Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.***This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.*****CORE QUALIFICATIONS****Education:**Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field**Certification and Licensing:**Licensed Acupuncture Physician (L.Ac. or AP in Florida)**Experience:**Minimum 2 years of relevant experience**Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:*** Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.* Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.* Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.* Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.* Commitment to the University’s core values.* Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.**DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM****Department Specific Functions**Rotate between main campus, outpatient clinics, and satellite locations to increase access to integrative care.Maintain detailed documentation in the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) to track patient progress and symptom changes.**Department Specific Qualifications****Certification and Licensing:**Licensed Acupuncture Physician (L.Ac. or AP in Florida)Oncology Acupuncture Certification or Related CEUsThe University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
