Everest ThriveCare is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient centered Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our expanding outpatient healthcare practice in The Woodlands, Texas.
The PMHNP will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and evidence based mental health care for adolescents and adults in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment. This role is ideal for a clinician who values autonomy, collaboration, inclusive care, and building meaningful long term relationships with patients.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for new patients, including psychiatric history, mental health assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment recommendations
- Diagnose and treat psychiatric conditions utilizing DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria and evidence based clinical guidelines
- Develop individualized, patient centered treatment plans based on each patient's goals, preferences, and clinical needs
- Provide psychiatric medication management services, including prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting psychotropic medications
- Evaluate medication effectiveness, adverse effects, safety concerns, and treatment outcomes
- Provide follow-up psychiatric visits focused on medication management and ongoing symptom monitoring
- Provide supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and behavioral health interventions within the scope of practice
- Order and review appropriate laboratory testing and coordinate medical monitoring when clinically indicated
- Provide collaborative psychiatric care for patients receiving gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT), including assessment, ongoing mental health support, and coordination with other healthcare providers as appropriate
- Provide culturally responsive and affirming care to LGBTQIA+ patients and other underserved or historically marginalized populations
- Collaborate with primary care providers, therapists, specialists, and other members of the healthcare team
- Identify patients requiring higher levels of psychiatric care and coordinate appropriate referrals
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Complete clinical documentation within required practice timelines
- Follow HIPAA regulations, ethical standards, and applicable federal and Texas healthcare requirements
- Maintain compliance with controlled substance prescribing regulations, including appropriate use of the Texas Drug Prescription Monitoring Program (PDMP)
- Participate in practice development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical collaboration meetings as needed

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited institution
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (PMHNP-BC) through the ANCC/AANP
- Active Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in good standing
- Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current DEA registration with appropriate prescribing authority
- Texas Controlled Substance Registration (CSR), if applicable
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain insurance credentialing when required
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and psychopharmacology
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience treating adult and adolescent populations across diverse psychiatric presentations
- Experience providing telepsychiatry services in an outpatient setting
- Familiarity with collaborative care models and integrated behavioral healthcare
- Experience working in outpatient psychiatry, primary care integration, or multidisciplinary healthcare settings
- Experience providing culturally responsive, inclusive, and affirming mental healthcare
- Experience working with LGBTQIA+ patients and transgender or gender diverse populations
- Experience providing psychiatric care and support for patients receiving gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT), including:
- Mental health assessment
- Medication management
- Supportive counseling
- Care coordination with other healthcare providers
- Understanding of the unique mental health needs of transgender and gender diverse individuals, including minority stress, healthcare barriers, and social determinants of health
- Commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and affirming healthcare environment for all patients
- Previous experience using eClinicalWorks (eCW) electronic health record system
- Ability to efficiently complete psychiatric documentation, medication management workflows, electronic prescribing, and clinical communication within an EHR environment
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required due to the diverse patient population served by Everest ThriveCare and the need to provide effective, culturally responsive communication and care
