Job Description

The Occupational Therapist Assistant plays a vital role in supporting occupational therapists by providing patient care, implementing therapy plans, and assisting in rehabilitation. Working primarily with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients under the supervision of an occupational therapist, this role requires effective communication and teamwork to ensure successful therapy outcomes. The assistant is responsible for monitoring patient progress, preparing equipment, and maintaining accurate documentation using both electronic and paper-based systems. This position does not require travel and focuses on delivering compassionate care within a collaborative healthcare environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and assist with therapy implementation
  • Support rehabilitation activities and monitor patient progress
  • Prepare and maintain therapy equipment
  • Document treatment and patient responses accurately
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists and healthcare professionals
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapy techniques and safety
  • Ensure compliance with safety and healthcare regulations

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • State licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and patient assessment
  • Familiarity with rehabilitation equipment and documentation
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Effective time management and problem-solving abilities
