Responsibilities Supervision of off-site coders, staffing, evaluating and prioritizing daily work assignments, maintaining coding standards, and educating staff and physicians on coding issues Audit records to ensure 95% accuracy of coding Run the grouper daily to release all coded accounts; handle accounts caught in the grouper In AS 400, run the medical necessity check (MNCM) and work records with failing procedures Manage charts caught on the 72-hour rule, the APC Hold and the HCPCS hold; review accounts for potential combination or release Collaborate with the Central Billing Office to fix accounts affected by coding errors and communicate resolutions to the billing office via CNE Qualifications Candidates must have RHIA, RHIT or CCS with a minimum of 2 years ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding experience (inpatient and outpatient) Extensive knowledge of reimbursement systems such as DRGs and APCs; experience performing quality audits Ability to code all chart types and assign modifiers; prior knowledge of the 3M grouper Familiarity with Medicare guidelines related to billing; computer experience with healthcare software systems desirable Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with time constraints Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination Licensure, Certification & Registration: Current CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT certification Company and Employment Details We provide recruitment services to hospitals, physician practices, clinics, healthcare providers, for-profit and non-profit organizations seeking value and talent Our clients offer excellent compensation, benefits, relocation allowance, bonus incentive, negotiable DOE We work nationwide on a contingency basis No fees to applicants Contact: Adela Nash; Southern Medical Recruiters; 361-425-7471; Additional Notes Location mentions: HIM, Coding, Health Information Management Dept., RHIA, RHIT, lovely location, TN All information kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
