Description:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health services to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. This role includes conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing and treating behavioral health conditions, prescribing and managing medications, and collaborating with multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

The PMHNP will:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing mental health assessments.
  • Diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders across a diverse patient population.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and clinical best practices.
  • Provide education to patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and recovery goals.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, counselors, case managers, peer supporters, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in organizational meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Travel between designated organizational locations to provide clinical services and support continuity of care.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory, ethical, accreditation, and organizational standards, including confidentiality requirements.
  • Support the organization's mission of delivering compassionate, evidence-based behavioral healthcare services.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications
  • Current certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Ohio.
  • Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority consistent with state and federal regulations.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, treatment planning, and medication management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between multiple organizational locations as needed.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in addiction medicine, substance use disorder treatment, or medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
  • Experience working in outpatient behavioral health, community mental health, or integrated healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with integrated behavioral health models and multidisciplinary treatment approaches.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices for mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
Work Environment
  • Primarily outpatient and/or community-based behavioral health settings.
  • Frequent interaction with patients experiencing mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Travel between organizational locations required to meet patient care needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform routine clinical duties for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel between organizational locations.
  • Ability to use computers, telehealth platforms, and electronic health record systems as required to perform essential job functions.
