Job Description

Mental Health PromoterThe Mental Health Promoter (MHP) works to ensure the integration of services across target service areas within Supervisory Districts 1 & 2 (SPA 4 & 6) to strengthen communities, build trauma-resiliency and link community members to relevant services. This position will be responsible for outreach and advocacy for healthy and racially equitable communities by facilitating trauma resiliency groups, providing referral/linkage for target populations, and collaboration with community partners and Department of Mental Health. Leads non-traditional workshops to enhance emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing of target populations. Duties may vary based on the needs of the department, service area lead and/or supervisorial district.Essential DutiesEngages in community activities that may include outreach and engagement, individual and community advocacy, facilitating groups, case management, referral and linkage; collaborates with internal and external systems within DMH, and other county departments, community partners and thought leaders.Advocates on behalf of client with other agencies to receive needed services.Provides community psychoeducation and support regarding defined needs such as increasing protective factors, recognizing signs and symptoms of mental illness, healthy coping skills, health and nutrition, financial literacy, and career development.Facilitates the outreach and engagement plans that address the needs of the community by creating community awareness, educational opportunities, and support to mitigate risk factors and its impact on the development of mental illness and its impact on the community.Collects and disseminates information on CII services and other community resources and activities through community canvassing, door-to-door, or in community settings.Attends assigned community events and meetings on behalf of CII to gather information on upcoming community events specific to supporting mental health promotion.Establishes and maintains communication flow between CII, community groups, appropriate stakeholders, and organizations.Works closely with the Community Engagement team to provide an update on community trends.Participates in meetings with the CII Community Engagement team, other Ambassadors, as well as required meetings and/or trainings by funder as assigned.Maintains accurate documentation ensuring compliance of service standards and policies as stipulated by contractOther duties and special projects as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; bachelor's degree preferred.Lived experience in communities for the program and/or one year of community-based direct service experience.Other QualificationsPassion and commitment to work in community engagement.Ability to work well with others, gain consensus, and work towards a common goal.Valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to handle confidential information.Sensitivity to service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Free from alcohol and drug abuse.Understands CII's basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsNone requiredComputer SkillsWorking knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.Vision RequirementsNo special vision requirements.Noise LevelModerate noiseRequired TrainingNew Hire OrientationAB-1343: Sexual Harassment Prevention trainingMandated ReporterCompensation: $23.88 USD - $28.66 USDBenefits: Generous paid PTO, plus 10 paid holidays and CII is closed between Christmas and New Year.
