Job Overview
Adult ESL academy is seeking a passionate, dedicated and lively English as a Second Language (ESL) Conversation Coach (Teacher) to support language learners in developing their conversational skills. This role involves facilitating interactive discussions and fostering an inclusive learning environment for a primarily hispanic student population. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, experience working with students of various backgrounds, and a commitment to promoting language proficiency and cultural understanding. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ language development and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct engaging ESL conversation sessions tailored to adult students’ proficiency levels and learning goals
• Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet individual and group needs
• Facilitate discussions that promote speaking, listening, and comprehension skills in a supportive environment
• Assess student progress through informal observations and standardized testing when applicable
• Incorporate learning technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement
• Provide mentorship and guidance to students, encouraging confidence and independence in language use
• Manage classroom dynamics effectively, employing behavior management techniques to maintain a positive learning atmosphere
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and program improvement initiatives
• Support students with special needs or those requiring early intervention or additional accommodations

Experience

• Prior classroom experience in ESL or related educational settings is preferred
• Experience working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds is highly desirable
• Knowledge of teaching methodologies and classroom management techniques
• Experience with learning technology will be beneficial
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues across various educational contexts
