POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT February 6, 2026 Position Type: Technology/ Network Specialist Date Posted: 2/6/2026 Location: Albany High Complex POSITION Cyber Security Administrator LOCATION Albany High Complex JOB SUMMARY The Cyber Security Administrator is a key leadership role responsible for establishing and maintaining an enterprise-wide information security program. This position oversees the development, implementation, and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational data and information systems. The Cyber Security Administrator collaborates with cross‑functional teams to identify and mitigate security risks, leads incident response efforts, and stays abreast of emerging threats and technologies. This role involves managing security audits, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership, and fostering a culture of security awareness. The Cyber Security Administrator is also instrumental in ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security or related field, or equivalent training and experience. Seven (7) years of experience in information technology, hardware, software, or network support. A combination of prior education, training, or experience may provide an equivalent background necessary to perform the work. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and guidance relevant to the organization. Ability to prioritize and allocate work and resources correctly and efficiently. Understanding of technology, management, and leadership issues related to organizational processes and problem‑solving. Ensuring information security management processes are integrated with strategic and operational planning processes. Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and conduct training and presentations to groups and executives. Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk). Experience and or working knowledge of federal regulations and industry frameworks related to information security (FISMA, Computer Security Act, NIST Special Publications, NIST CSF, PCI, HIPAA, ISO 27k series, FERPA). Strong understanding of EdTech issues, information systems, and current trends. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Well‑versed in incident response protocols and crisis management. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Develop effective policies that align with industry standards and organizational needs. Develop and implement strategies to safeguard organizational assets. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Design/integrate a cyber strategy that outlines the vision, mission, and goals that align with the organization's strategic plan. Conduct network monitoring and intrusion detection analysis using various Computer Network Defense (CND) tools, such as IDS/IPS, Firewalls, Host Based Security System (HBSS), etc. Correlate network activity across networks to identify trends of unauthorized use. Research emerging threats and vulnerabilities to aid in the identification of network incidents. Support the creation of business continuity/disaster recovery plans, including conducting disaster recovery tests, publishing test results, and making changes necessary to address deficiencies. Advise senior management (e.g., CIO) on cost/benefit analysis of information security programs, policies, processes, systems, and elements. Interface with external organizations to ensure appropriate and accurate dissemination of incident and other Computer Network Defense information. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the enterprise's cybersecurity safeguards to ensure that they provide the intended level of protection. Oversee protective or corrective measures when a cybersecurity incident or vulnerability is discovered. Promote awareness of security issues among management and ensure sound security principles are reflected in the organization's vision and goals. Oversee policy standards and implementation strategies to ensure protection of critical infrastructure as appropriate. Ensure effective internal controls are in place to properly safeguard district resources. Ensure that plans of action and milestones or remediation plans are in place for vulnerabilities identified during risk assessments, audits, inspections, etc. Provide network subscribers with incident response support, including mitigating actions to contain activity and facilitating forensic analysis when necessary. Schedule periodic security audits. Identify and implement best practices throughout the organization. Collaborate with inter‑department managers to provide guidance on security‑related efforts, projects, and events. Responsible for the management of Governance, Retention, and Responsible/Acceptable Use Policies. Maintain requirements of the district's Cyber Insurance policy. Provide guidance, mentorship, supervise and oversee the work of the Cyber Security Analyst. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology. REPORTS TO Director of Information Technology SALARY RANGE Twelve‑month contract; Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
