Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for Clinical Data Abstractors for an innovative healthcare technology organization focused on improving clinical registry abstraction and AI-supported healthcare data workflows. This is a fully remote contract opportunity with flexible scheduling for experienced clinical abstraction professionals located anywhere in the United States.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Clinical Data Abstractor will support abstraction and validation activities across multiple VQI and clinical registries while collaborating closely with product and commercial teams to improve AI-driven abstraction technology. This role combines hands-on registry abstraction with product feedback, clinical reasoning, and workflow testing in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical abstraction experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to clearly communicate abstraction decisions and recommendations.

RESPONSIBILITIES - Abstract cases across one or more registries including VQI, PVI, both Bypass; Carotid Artery Stenting, Carotid Endarterectomy, Endovascular AAA and related registries
- Review patient charts within electronic health record systems to identify and document required registry data elements
- Evaluate AI-generated abstraction recommendations and validate accuracy within abstraction workflows
- Document abstraction rationale and provide actionable feedback to product teams to improve AI-supported workflows
- Participate in meetings with product and commercial teams to provide subject matter expertise and workflow insights
- Review and critique presentations, workflows, and product functionality from a clinical abstraction perspective
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams in a fast-paced and evolving environment
QUALIFICATIONS - Active certification appropriate to assigned registry or registries required, such as CPHQ, RHIA, RHIT, or registry-specific abstraction training
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on clinical data abstraction experience required
- Experience abstracting cardiovascular or clinical registry data preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and clinical reasoning skills
- Ability to clearly communicate abstraction logic, findings, and feedback
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating across teams
- Exposure to multiple EMR systems strongly preferred
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS This fully remote contract opportunity offers competitive hourly compensation of $40-$45/hour, depending on experience, with flexible scheduling and the opportunity to support cutting-edge healthcare technology initiatives. The assignment is expected to last approximately three months and offers valuable exposure to AI-supported clinical registry workflows, product testing, and cross-functional collaboration within an innovative healthcare environment.
